From our daily routine of the supervision of tutorials we know that
our lessons strengthen our pupils academically and build their self
confidence. Often we have been told by the teachers at school that
since their students began learning with the Sulam L’Atid NGO their
academic achievement has been bolstered.
We’ve also been told that
some of our pupils, who used to be unnoticeable in class, suddenly
began participating in class discussions. It should be stressed that the
rule at the Sulam L’Atid NGO is that one teacher of one subject
teaches one pupil during the year. Moreover, we strive that our tutors
will accompany the same pupils in their studies from year to year.
In the framework of the daily reporting we receive from our tutors to
our supervisors we have witnessed a positive learning experience. The
following is an example of such a report: (The name of the pupil has
been omitted for the sake of privacy.)
“O. learned with me, today. At one point we went out to the garden…
Slowly through a joint effort O. succeeded in writing a poem about
her feelings in the garden. I am so happy and excited, because when
we first began to work at free writing I had told her that little by little
she would be able to write poetry (I have an affinity for the subject,
because I, too, write poems and in the past have published a book of
poetry.), and she said that that would never happen. Today, she
astonished herself. I plan to print her poem for the next lesson and to
laminate it, so that she can keep it as a sign of her success in this
area.”
